The Dutch Football Championship Will Not Resume, the National Title Will Not Be Awarded

Two days after the extension of the ban on sports events communicated by the Dutch government, the football association of the Netherlands has declared the season ended for all national leagues including the Eredivisie (the first division). The title will not be awarded as there will be no promotions or relegations. The qualifications for the European cups will be established on the basis of the classification of the last day played regularly: Ajax and AZ Alkmaar in the Champions League, Feyenoord, PSV Eindhoven and Willem II in the Europa League. The Dutch championship is the second largest European tournament to declare the sporting season ended due to the epidemic: the first was the Belgian championship, which ended on April 1st.
