A survey by the Footballers Union, which represents 94% of
First and Second players, reveals that they do not want to take risks. This is
bad news for French football. The Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 players made it clear
what their point of view is with regard to returning to the field of play: not
returning.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the National Union of
Professional Footballers (UNFP), a French union of 94% of First and Second
players, surveyed the possibility of playing again, with results that reflect
the fear of the reluctant squads to resume activity for fear of the
coronavirus.
The reason is that the footballers are not willing to return
without the adequate conditions of sanitary security that prevents infections.
In addition, the fact of having to play behind closed doors is also not a dish
of good taste for the players, something that will have to be given yes or yes
for security measures. 80% of respondents prefer that the current leaderboard
be taken as a reference and that everything stay that way, before the season is
‘null’.
For now, the Ligue 1 plan to return to the competition will
be linked to the end of confinement in France, which theoretically has to be on
May 11, as Emmanuel Macron said.
